5.3. “Between-channel interactions” Mode

Updated 31 August 20261 min read

5.3.1. Purpose

Visualization of the relationship between two channels within a selected frequency band.

5.3.2. Controls

Between-channel interactions mode controls with numbered callouts for Trim (1), CAR (2), Denoise (3), frequency range selector (4), measure type (5), epoch length (6), analysis mode (7), play button (8), and the two channel selectors (9, 10), above a joint trajectory plot comparing two EEG channels.

  1. Trim: Remove artifact segments
  2. CAR: Common average reference
  3. Denoise: Blink artifact suppression
  4. Filter: Frequency filter selection
  5. Amplitude/Power: Amplitude or power
  6. Epoch length: Epoch length
  7. Mode selection: Power by sections / Between-channel interactions
  8. Recalculation button
  9. Electrode Y: Channel for the Y-axis
  10. Electrode X: Channel for the X-axis

5.3.3. Calculation Method

  • Transformations and filtering are applied to each channel.
  • The signal is converted to amplitude or power.
  • Epoch averaging is applied.
  • For each section, a scatter plot is built:
    plot(X_channel, Y_channel)

5.3.4. Interpretation

  • Linear relationship: high correlation between channels
  • Clusters: different sections may form separate clusters
  • Cloud shape: reflects the type of interaction (synchronous, asynchronous, delayed)
